Hi, I'm Debby

As an eight-year-old girl laying on my stomach, legs swinging up and down while devouring the Secret Garden, I knew I would be a writer. Beginning with poetry, and expanding into children’s literature, I’ve been pursuing my writing goals for many years. With a degree in communication studies, I’ve enjoyed volunteering with elementary school students as a creative writing coach for over ten years. I’ve attended many conferences, workshops, and classes in children’s writing, and I have several submission-ready manuscripts available upon request. Professional memberships include SCBWI and 12x12. 

My adult poetry and creative nonfiction have appeared in Sage Trail Poetry Magazine, San Gabriel Valley Poetry Quarterly, Street Spirit, Back Room Live, Le Mot Juste, Liberty’s Vigil, and elsewhere. I’ve also guest-written nonfiction articles for bestselling author Dr. Pamela Peeke’s Blog. 

I have two fun and independent adult sons and live in Upstate NY with my husband and assorted pets. I am also my family’s tongue twister champion.
